DIRECTIONS

EasySharp Liquid is so easy to use and is completely biodegradable. Depending on what you want to sharpen will determine what type of PLASTIC kit you should use. Whatever size PLASTIC kit, make sure it has a lid and you need to put a hole in that lid for fumes to escape. OK..are you ready? Here we go...

SAFETY FIRST
1. Put on rubber gloves and eye wear for safety and begin the process in a well ventilated area such as a garage or shop area... NEVER in a kitchen sink.
2. Pour EasySharp Liquid into a plastic container for a time controlled soaking. Make sure your container is inside a five gallon bucket for safety and to catch any liquid that could spill or bubble out of the top.
3. All cutting edges must be free of debris, surrounded by the liquid and allowed to soak for no more than the time recommended in the booklet (which will arrive with your EasySharp Liquid).
NOTE: If you are sharpening clipper blades, use edger cord (plastic) through the clipper holes and drape the end of the cord over the edge of the plastic container so you can remove the blades easily when completed sharpening.
4. Remove from the liquid, wipe dry with a paper towel and brush clean using a nylon or other soft bristle brush.
5. Test sharpness to the touch and soak more if needed.
6. DO NOT rinse in water or the rust inhibitor will be lost.
7. After a number of uses you will notice residue in the bottom of your container. The liquid MUST stay clear so you will need to filter out the residue with a simple painters filter and pour the clean liquid back into your container. Again, make sure you use a five (5) gallon bucket to catch any liquid that could spill while filtering.

*For sharpening rasps, we also have a special kit and instructions that are easy to follow. You will need to filter the liquid after sharpening between 10 and 15 rasps. You can order your kit right here on the web site.*

*EasySharp Liquid is REUSABLE*, but must be stored in a plastic container. The kit is a convenient place to store your liquid.

When it's time to retire your EasySharp Liquid, you can neutralize it with baking soda and dispose of it to keep the environment healthy!

Step by Step for Rasp Sharpening

SAFETY FIRST: USE GLOVES AND GLASSES

14” & 17” Rasps

1. After taking everything out of the box set up a work station. This work station should be in a well ventilated area such as a garage or workshop NEVER the kitchen sink!! Place rasp kit in a five (5) gallon bucket (the kit is the PVC container).
2. Pour Easy Sharp Liquid into PVC container taking out black file separator before pouring.
3. For a 14” Rasp: Pour 2 ¾ quarts into the PVC Rasp Kit...no more than that!
4. For a 17” Rasp: Pour 3 ¼ quarts into PVC Rasp Kit.
5. Prepare all rasps for liquid soaking by cleaning the rasp thoroughly. Get rid of rust and foreign debris using a wire wheel or wire brush.
Soaking Times:
Trimming Rasp: 3 hours
Finish Rasp or Metal Rasp: 5 hours
6. Use the plastic separators and soak for the recommended time with /*NO MORE THAN TWO (2) RASPS PER SOAKING*/. Remove plastic separators and soak for an additional three (3) hours. Rasp will be /*SHARP*/ (remember: Safety First always wear gloves and eye protection).
7. Remove rasps from PVC Rasp Kit. Allow liquid to drip from rasp before removing. Lay rasp on newspaper and blot with paper towels. Wrap and store in newspaper. You're now ready to go to work!

Maintaining Liquid Sharp

After sharping 15 rasps you need to pour Liquid Sharp through a painters filter or similar plastic filter. Clean out any foreign debris from the PVC container.

Sharpening time with Easy Sharp Liquid for the first couple of times will take about three (3) hours. After about 15 rasps (this will vary), you should soak rasps for an additional hour to achieve maximum results.

Rasps used for finishing and hot metal should be initially soaked with plastic dividers (for core shrinkage) for two hours then additionally soak for 3 to 4 hours. As liquid begins to weaken, you will need to increase your soak times by 1 hour.

It is recommended you keep a record of how many times your sharpen a rasp.

List of Contents in Rasp Kit:
a. PVC Container with lid
b. Black File separator
c. Plastic core sheets
d. rubber bands
e. Easy Sharp Liquid
f. Instructions

FINAL NOTES:

Black file separator is used for keeping rasps in upright position for maximum soaking.

You can leave liquid in PVC container. Liquid should only leave PVC container for filtration (cleaning).

Easy Sharp Liquid does /*NOT WORK*/ on Black Tang or Black Master Rasps due to the coating on these rasps.
